i'm reading a novel about the revolutionary war (pretty good too) and in it there are quit a few famous quotes used. one of them struck me the other day, it says "the constitution guarantees the pursuit of happiness, but each person has to find it themselves". i know i didn't get it word for word, but you get the drift. aaannnnywaay! it set me to thinking (yes i know a scary thing) our society, including me at times, has come to believe being happy is a right and it's up to the govt, community, spouses, children, pick your wish, to provide it to us. the truth is happiness has to come within ourselves. yes, present surroundings or past hauntings can make us sad even miserable, but it's up to us whether we wallow in it even revel in it.
i'm not saying it's easy. as a matter of fact it can be VERY HARD to find happiness, particularly for a person that tends to pessimism or fights depression. but it's there. you have to have your eyes open for it because sometimes it sneaks up on you. sometimes it's disguised in the things and people around us everyday. and for those that there just doesn't seem to be any happiness there is contentment to find. at times that can be just as good if not better.
thank you and god bless

i've been following the story of the lady that was kidnapped. everybody keep praying for her and all the other hostages and not just the ones from our country.
i'm sitting here watching Enemy of the state. an older movie about government surveillance. does anybody else out there find this VERY coincidental?
i'm really wishy washy about this. i see the need for the powers that be to be able to monitor suspicious people, but i also see how wrong it can be used. and yes this was all thought out BEFORE the movie! LOL i do have some serious thoughts and a small amount of intelligence.
the way i see it though is we are at war and some unpleasant things are necessary. if i have to give up some privacy for that i'm willing to.
it is hard to believe we've been at war for several years now and yet for a lot of people life goes on without a thought about it!!
i personally support the troops and pray for them and their families and though it sounds pat, i want to say thank you, for your service and your sacrifices. this is to the service people and the families.
God bless to all, even those that disagree
i just don't get men. remember the very ugly piece of machinery holding up the very beautiful cross? well somehow in the male psyche, now i'm imagining the internal conversation."well all the christmas decorations are put up, so now i think i'll just rip up all those trees over there". for some reason just out the blue it was decided to rip up all the trees, (and these were some pretty grancy greybeards and dogwoods) and get ready for the pipe fencing that has been in the works for about three years. now my great view that blocked the drive next door is gone. oh well maybe in another four years that fence will be up. and it WILL be nice when it's done it's just the in between that's so ugly.
another thing why do men, .....ok SOME men get angry and you know they are angry but won't say anything until the absolute oddest times like in the middle of a movie, after 'punishing' you for several days? i made mistake, a doozey at the office three weeks ago and just now got the lecture even though i asked several times what was wrong. this really hurts. and i don't appreciate being treated like one of the kids instead of a partner.
i probably shouldn't be so personal but there just isn't any one to talk to right now!
God bless all

a rant!!.. sent my teenage son who works for us to return some wire to an electric supply house we use. never had any problem before, but when this teenager walks in they pop off with "you know there is a restock fee". long story short the mistake was theirs, so no fee. i've taught my son there is a nice way to stand up for yourself, be firm, fair and polite even with adults. so he just tells the guy, "wow, i sure hope dad knows about this" while getting out his phone and dialing the number. two minutes later after speaking with an adult the guy backs off. this really isn't a big thing, but i've seen people treat teens like dirt in retail places resteraunts, theaters etc... maybe they think they have every reason to from past experience, but it really isn't right. my son and his girlfriend have more free money then i have to spend, and i believe they both are always polite and honest, if they were 5 years older they wouldn't have heard some of the rude things "adults" have to say to them. i took a group to dinner and to see coheed and cambria, and i must say it was GREAT!!!, anyway, i was in the restroom while they asked for dessert. while i was coming around the corner there is a guy telling them it's to late to get anything else go up the street or something. when he realised i was standing there behind him he kind of jumped and said he would see what he could do. this was at 8:30pm other people had come in behind us and i can honestly say nobody had run a waiter or waitress around. he came back in few minutes with a basket of sopopilas (sp?). i was going to leave a small tip but the kids insisted i didn't, that i tip the right amount. i've been chaperone on many teen trips and seen this kind of stuff all over. WHY. what purpose does it serve. i know there are some people that deserve this treatment, i've given this kind of treatment when they did. but come on, why peg someone into such a narrow minded rude hole!!
thanks once again.
