JOYFUL OR SAD

That is the question of the day!?

About mid Jan. i had a long post started then had to quit for some reason or another. When I went back to read it. it was all sad.
Who needs that right now?
Not me!
So i decided to do lighthearted, like my husband working on the truck at the shop. With the drivers side window down just enough for Shop Cat to get in. While climbing around he managed to roll the window up & lock the doors, then laying on the dash he would reach out and paw at different things, so lights were lighting and wipers were wiping.
My husband ended up having to take one of the welding rigs home to get his extra keys.

JOYFUL THINGS!!

That is what i want to concentrate on right now. My oldest son taking a steady job and getting things together. My youngest getting a letter that let us know he received the scholarship to college. The beautiful untouched snow at 5:30 am, then around 6 seeing a hawk fly over in the misty sky.
even if it's just for a couple of days I've decided to let the joyful take over, the sadness can have it's time another day.

SHOPPING HELL AGAIN

I DO NOT believe in Black Friday!!! and i've already said i hate shopping. but we are getting my youngest a laptop for graduation and it's pretty expensive so a certain store i won't name but it starts with B*** B** had it for about $350 cheaper than what i had priced it at. SSOOOOO fri morning at 4:30 and out of the door at 4:45. the store was 10 minutes from where i was staying. at 5:05 (traffic) i was in line at the back of the store talking to security at the back of the line, due to the size of the store they could only let in so many in at one time. it was moving pretty good though and the store had it laid out really well with someone to help you get in the correct line waiting to pick out your purchase then in the correct line to pay for it. after about 30 minutes a young man came around and asked if there was anything from elsewhere in the store and would i like for him to see how many where left of whatever i was wanting. i showed him the picture. he said he didn't think many where here for that. he came back about ten minutes later and said in the 2 hours they had been opened only one had sold. 30 minutes later he said there where still 3 left. the line slowly moved along and it seemed most people where buying this particular printer and or a monitor that was really cheap. FINALLY i was sixth in line. this poor kid came slinking over and said "Maam i am sosososo sorry the last one just sold.
i HATEHATEHATE. loathe. despise. gettin up early on a day off. shopping is about 5 steps above that on the hate scale.
anybody around the car probably thought i was nuts, i was banging my head on the steering wheel hollering 'I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! NEVER. NEVER AGAIN.
well live and learn. that's where greed gets ya.

2 B CLEAR

I wanted to make it clear I didn't write the Christmas poem. The chances of anyone that knows WHO DID, reading it here is pretty slim, but if you do please let me know. I do wish i could write poetry like this, I did dabble as a teenager, so everything was dark and riddled with doom. Fortunately i gave that up. I have finally started writing the book that has been floating in my head for years. It may be just as bad but at least I am trying.

They've changed blogger on me and i've lost my links. Too tired tonight will have to fix later.

SOLDIER'S CHRISTMAS

Yes ACLU, i used "Christmas" in my title. So sue me!

I don't know who wrote this, but it touched me. I know it's going all around the web, but I wanted to put it in my blog. Along with a hearfelt prayer and thank you to all who serve. YOU ARE REMEMERED HERE AND THOUGHT OF AND PRAYED FOR!!

GASP I said Christmas and Prayer. Together. In the same sentence. In a format that may viewed by the public. OMG i may turn little childern everywhere into Neo Christian robots. Causing them run around wildly attempting to be good people! Doing things like, not stealing, loving thy neighbor or... or... OH NOOOO respecting other people

Oh The Horror. Oh The Inhumanity!

I truly hope they come knocking at my door. I just might have a little something for them. ;-)

Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear, "Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts. To the window that danced with a warm fire's light Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night." "It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me. My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, The red, white, and blue... An American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another, Or lay down my life with my sister and brother.
" Who stand at the front against any and all, To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least, "Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, "Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone, To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

THE VOTES ARE IN

YES! NO MORE COMMERCIALS!

well finally the votes are in. and wonder of wonders the sun still rose. despite all the dire warnings of 'if the dems win' or 'if the reps win'. it remains to be seen where our country will head now, but we still will continue to make great strides and then fall back a couple of steps. all the people willl still continue to do the best we can. some of us will work and some not. some laugh and some cry. our representatives are people not gods. we are not old rome, we are a ccountry in it's young adult hood compared to other "great" so mistakes are expected and accepted in theory if not forgiven. i still like to think our country is the best there is despite all of it's faults.

Hezbollah vs PETA

I didn't write the words below, but oh how I wish to be that articulate!!

This could very well be bulls$$t just being passed around on the web. I don't know. But don't ya hope it is true word for word.

After reading this it crossed my mind. At some point there are sure to be some bleeding hearts, probably the ACLU will start weeping and wailing. OK I thought if Hezbollah or Taliban can declare war with a state or a another organization, what is to stop other organizations?

Kind of like that show I've heard about with celebrities boxing.

Let's get it together people pitch the ACLU and the NRA into the ring together to duke it out.

How about PETA vs NSSF?

Well just a thought.

Sentence of Reid
Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?
Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
Didn't think so.

Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.
Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.

His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his "allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah," defiantly stating, "I think I will not apologize for my actions," and told the court "I am at war with your country."

Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid.

Judge Young: "Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life inprison in the custody of the United States Attorney General.

On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively.
(That's 80 years.)
On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 y ears just imposed.

TheCourt imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines. The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.
This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes.
It is a fair and just sentence.
It is a righteous sentence.

Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and I say that to every-one with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice. You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or
if you think you are a soldier. You are not----- you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice. So war talk is way out of line in this court.

You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've known warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders.

In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: "You're no big deal."
You are no big deal.
What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today? I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate that led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing?

And, I have an answer for you.

It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know. It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea.It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties.

Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bare any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure. Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America, theAmerican people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The veryPresident of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America . That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.

Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.

So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets?

We need more judges like Judge Young, but that's another subject.

Powerful words that strike home.

God bless America

An Eye Opener

One Marine's View: From the Marines, to the Marines

How can we keep blindly trusting the media!!

We shouldn't belive any one blog either. Do some research people and find out what's going on!
