Racism. Why it won't die

sorry if this comes out in one long paragraph.
I heard an interesting quote the other day, "The more accommodations are made for any minority. The greater the divide."

Think about this for a minute. Say it out loud. Put it into context of society today. Do we really need anymore division in this country?

Does anybody else believe we need to come together and work on becoming a powerful people that the world can look to in admiration, instead of just shaking collective heads in confusion & disgust.

As long as people remain SO politically correct and whine about every slight and/or perceived slight and hop on the ACLU driven lawsuit-train. As long as people hang on to the past as an excuse to complain as publicly and as loudly as possible. As long as people live in denial that sometimes life isn't fair and a lot of the times it's down right hard, and as long as people foster a thin skin within themselves acting like a three year old instead of an adult, we will never move forward to become a better and stronger people.

Though I don't like racism in any form, I have to admit that I struggle with racist thoughts & feelings at times, (I'm not proud of the fact, but there it is) admit it or not everybody does. It's human nature to feel 'my way is best'. To expect and demand everybody make exceptions or changes in every aspect of American traditions and rules to suit one group, despite what the majority agrees upon isn't human nature, it's self centeredness ( ;-) my made up word of the day), and it's wrong. I do realize that there are some exceptions.

America is supposed to be the "melting-pot", yet now it's more of a-aah, well darn i can't think of a word. OK how about this, instead of a stew we are now a buffet.

Nobody should lose nor have to forget and ignore their heritage, customs or language when they come to our country, on the other hand we shouldn't have to change our ways. To me that's what 'melting-pot' is all about. Melding cultures slowly, over time until we have new traditions that everybody wants and enjoys.

I'm proud of the Indian heritage I have, but wasting time and energy bitching and moaning that my family is owed reparations and land is ludicrous. The insults and brutality done to ancestors are history!!!! Think maybe some lessons were learned so these things never happen again? I do.

I truly think that the majority should not have to change because one minority or another demands it. Instead the minority could/should share their culture and the majority could/should open their hearts and minds to it. To bring out the best of each other. And each side could/should refuse to listen to, and cheer on, the rabble-
rousing big mouths. The way things are done now isn't working so how about trying something different.

Ever heard this: The meaning of insanity is doing the same thing over and over the same way and expecting different results. I may not have it quoted right but you get the meaning.

Well how about we attempt some sanity for a change. We could all try to encourage GOOD strong leaders from both sides of the issue to bring about solutions and maybe even some peace to a world that's already filled with more then enough hate and trouble.

If your new to our country legally or working on becoming legal; Welcome. Come in, learn our ways and language and share yours.

If your a natural citizen, knock that block off your shoulder, start bettering yourself by yourself(i'm not so naive to think that it's easy, but it can be done) you'll feel a lot lighter and maybe find that your a happier person.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

That is not to offend, but to encourage.
